I can’t believe that in less than eight weeks, Elizabeth’s Mountain will make its debut. To those of you who’ve been readers and reviewers of advanced copies, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Reviews are the best way to tell an author Thank You and show that you enjoyed the book.
The easiest thing for a writer is the first draft, where you can just let yourself go. The hardest is when you finally finish a book and realize you have to say goodbye to characters who feel more real than people you know. When I typed my final words to Elizabeth’s Mountain, I cried. For real. My reaction startled me at first, but then I understood it. I’d been with Elizabeth and Amanda and all the supporting characters for one whole year.
My characters are the greatest motivation for me to write and I hope that readers of Elizabeth’s Mountain will come away with not only a sense of place but of familial importance and connection, charming them with multigenerational romances. Two woman’s voices capturing generations of change, whose tales are more similar than either could imagine, each a champion in their own story.
While my story is fiction, my focus is, and always will be, to portray my characters with depth and honesty, their struggle and hardships resonating with all of us.
As this is the month of February when we focus on love and relationships, we all remember at least one romantic book that we read that stayed with us for a long time, the one we can never seem to forget. And in the most extraordinary case, the one that left its imprint on us forever.
In the vast world of literature, it is romance novels that emerge as the undisputed champions of popularity. Whatever the genre, romantic elements spice things up.
I hope this month brings happiness, gratitude, and new adventures.
